I know I have mentioned that I have skin problem all the time.  It is a matter I have to manage, but never really disappearing.  And for me, I find that it usually "flare up" when the weather changes.  And it can be anywhere on my body.  Literally from head to toes.

Yay for Friday.  Work was busy and I was busy at home too... laundry, taking Gigi for her nails trimmed and bum squeezed.  She was really good at the groomer.

 

I went to Bartell to pick up some Sudafed generic.  My friend recommend Pseudoephedrine.  So I hope that will work.  Because I was sleeping better for the past few nights except when I woke up in the middle of the night to find that my left side is blocked/congested.  But other than that my cold is majorly better.  I have been sneezing a lot and having to blow my nose a lot... but I *feel* better than I was last week.  I can't believe it's taking almost 2 week now.  Gah. 

Anyway, I also picked up FRAPPUCCINO from NYX.  It's a very pretty color, again it's sort of ylbb like. ;)  I know I still have 2 new one (B52 and Ceto, both gorgeous color and not quite ylbb.  Go me!) I haven't use and the ones from MAC.  I have bought like 10 new lipsticks in October!  haha.  I shall do an "inventory" tomorrow just to be sure I know what I have.  ;)

And I will be moving my blog (once again).  Typepad is not as easy to use as I hope.  I have already copied and pasted most of the posts over and when I am happy with my new site I will post the link. :)

Haul

First off, I am sick of being sick.  I got my prescription of antibiotic... so I am hoping this will help me and it's not helping any further that my nose decided to start bleeding again.  I knew with my blowing nose, my "delicate" nose may decided it's too much... but still.  I am anemic as is and I don't need to lose any more valuable blood.

My latest weird lip gloss habit

This only applies to my lip gloss usage. ><  One of my latest fav lip gloss is Rimmel Snog... the perfect ylbb shade.  Every time after I applied lip gloss I have to wipe the wand with tissue.  Yup, every time.  I also am semi-obsessed with cleaning my brushes and sponges... I have to wash them at least once a week... I wanted to wash it more often, but I compromise and let myself clean it only once a week.  teehee...  What are some of your weird makeup/beauty habit?

medicine

Getting sick is really getting overrated. :P  I want to complain about pills.  Yup.  I hate them.  I guess no one likes them.  But I have noticed this for my own crazy reason.  Medicine are mostly in 3 forms:  liquid, gel cap and regular pill. 

Liquid sucks because it tasted yucky and it's all over your taste bud, but then it's easy to swallow.

Gel cap sucks because it can get stuck on your jaw... and if they are big, they could be hard to swallow.

Pill sucks because if you are not good at swallowing pills (it does get hard when you are sick or if the pills are big) and you can't wash it down with the first flush of water it started to melt in your mouth.  EW.

Yup, I hate medicine... but I am grateful they do help to make you feel begtter.  But if I can get by without having to take medicine, I try not to put too much chemical inside me.

My face is acting up now... flaking and dry which is usually oil.  I think it's because of the weather and also the dayquil I had?  Not fun.  This is not the first time.  Usually it happens with the change of weather.  I need to go get some new cleanser and moisturizer.  No big. 

Sigh.

To celebrate me feeling better... that my throat does not hurt any more... though my nose is still a tad stuffy, but definitely a big improvement than what I was feeling... I went to Nordstrom to look at the new collection... geez, there were a lot of people there. Anyway I only bought 1 lipstick from the collection and Plumful (which is not part of the collection). I remember when I was a big lipstick person (then I wear lipstick all the time and it was my everyday makeup), I used to favor those plummy and 豆沙色, but now I favor ylbb type of color. :) But right now my lips are so dry and nasty... I neglected them when I was sick... so I need to nurse them back to good health.

nail polishes

Nail polishes are fun.  Usually I don't like to do it on my nails, because they chip easily and that makes me mad.  But I give up when the colors are too cool. ;)  My latest finds are Essie in Playa Del Platinum, Orly in Space Cadet, ManGlaze in Black and Gray.  I like them all.  They applied very easily and smoothly.

Lame

It's lame,because I am sick again.  That's twice in a year.  My cold is mostly gone, butmy throat is killing me. :(  DayQuill is my friend now.  But it makes me drowsy.  Not fun.

Anyhoo, I went to MAC yesterday to get matched with Pro Longwear foundation (the MA's recommendation) and was matched with NC30.  She told me the foundation oxidise, so this shade will give it room to do that and match my skin.  The foundation looks very yellow by itself, even more so than my MUFE.  I will have to try it next week to see how good it is.

 

We also went to agility and I brought my little video cam with me (love that toy  v. much).  Gigi did very good, though i did 'lost" her at the tummel, she must have found something good behind the tunnel. ;)  It was hard to run with her when I was not feeling well.

Morgana lipstick

I have posted here about my new lipsticks.  I am wearing Cotton Candy {full time} today.  I just put a sheer layer on my lips.  Since they are very pigmented, I don't want to use a heavy hand.  Cotton Candy is a bit glittery, but not too glittery.  I wouldn't call it shimmer, so glittery is a more correct term, I think.  It feels smooth, but I do feel a tiny bit of glitter-feeling.  And also a tiny little bit of dry after lipstick is applied.  Overall, it's not uncomfortable, just something I have noticed.  Use a good lip balm and you should be ok.

I have made it habit that to bring tissue with me.  Because you never know when you will need it.  Especially now that I have random nose bleed issue or sometimes your nose start running, you will need that.  Anyway, I love using tissue holder with my tissue pack.  It protects the tissue (somewhat) and looks cool. ;)  I recently purchased 2 new ones from Hana Purse.  Actually, I received my tissue holders just this Tuesday.  I have these made for me with dachshund fabric (which I also purchased a tote with same fabric from her this year too!).  I have bought tissue holders from another seller before, they are nice but these ones protected the tissue better.  Hard to explain, just take my word.  I have purchased from Mai before and have met her in person as well. :)  The package arrived quickly and was packaged nicely (tissue paper and yarn) and came with a little note and even a little birthday gift for Gigi. :)

Mid October Favorites

The first will be a combo:  Too Faced Shadow Insurance + paint pot.  This combo makes my eyeshadow lasts a loooong time.  I love it.  Just a little dab of TFSI on each eye lid, then add your color choice of paint pot and you have a good base {for me}

My second will be Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation by MAKEUP FOREVER.  I know it's not mmu and this is my first non mmu foundation in so long and I like it a lot.  It gives nice coverage and it does not irritate my skin.  I applied with a stippling brush.  I sprayed the brush and my face before applying anything to my face.

Third will be my new NYX lipstick in Mars.  Nice color, creamy, pigmented and affordable (under $4).

It's getting colder and colder.  This morning I let Gigi out to potty and I went about to do my own thing.  Then I heard the heater was on, I went out to see if I was hallucinating (LOL) and saw Gigi sitting in front of it.  SO. CUTE.   She shivers a lot and love blankies, especially in colder weather.

tillicum village

Yesterday after we went to Tillicum Village. We went to the ferry around 3ish. It was windy and all. The ferry ride was about 45 minutes. It was not too crowded. I brought my iPod with me, so it's not too bad. Upon arrival, we were served a hot steaming cup of clams. It was very delish, and it's custom to dump the shell on the ground. Then we can walked in and head to the dining room. Before reading the dining room, you can see how they cooked the salmon. The fish is butterflied and skewered to a "thingy" and was smoked (baked, according to the site, but it looked like it's smoked). The dinner was delish too. Here is the menu I got from the website.

today's find

We just came home from agility today and I stopped by Panda's to get some lunch and there is a Bartell next store, so I stopped by and *discovered* they have NYX (I think it is always there???) and I suck, and picked up a round lipstick. ;)  They carry the jumbo eye pencils and all other good stuff and I *only* picked up a lip stick.  I picked MARS and it is awesome.  So creamy.  I just swiped my lower lip and smooch my lips together and it's done!  It is a more color version of ylbb.  I love it.  Sort of like Hug Me.  And it's under $4 (before tax).  I am happy.  I have a "sick" feeling that I will go back for  more.  LOL.

lipsticks

Today I have received 3 new lip sticks.  2 were from Morgana and 1 I bought from Benefit.  I ordered my 2 lipsticks from Morgana 10.1 and received it today (10.15.10).  I have ordered from them before, their lipsticks are vegan and very pigmented.  The previous one I bought are very bold color.  And my fav was coralin's kiss, it was a nice peachy coral.  This time I bought 2 more "subtle" color (not as bold, still pigmented) [My color choices are more neutral and natural color].  I picked Rose Plum (earthy rose w/a metallic plum sheen) and Cotton Candy (Bright pink with silver sparkle and a metallic silver-pink sheen).  Both are still very pigmented, but much more wearable (for me).

I will write more about the one I bought from Benefit (jing-a-ling; tutu pink pearl) when I use it.  It was quite creamy when I tested it at Benefit (I had a makeover with lots of different products and eye colors, which I can't remember now... )

My MAC lippies

Went to MAC store with mom and sis and bought 2 lipsticks... 1 for me and 1 for mom (Christmas).

Me:  Freckletone-Neutral peach (Lustre)

Mom:  Captive-Pinkish-plum (Satin)

Review on High Tea and Hug Me

My thought of High Tea and Hug Me.

Both are from MAC and both are in Lustre formula. They come in your standard MAC black bullet plastic tube.  High Tea is described as “Beiged pink with pearl” and Hug Me is described as “Flesh Pink”. Both are ylbb and nice nude color on my lips. High Tea is definitely sheerer than Hug Me, it took more than 1 swipe to get a very visible color on my hand, and you will see a pearly pink sheer color. Hug Me is a deeper pink and no pearly sheen. Not matte, but a “solid” color. I’d say MAC’s description is fairly accurate in terms of the color. Hug Me is definitely dryer on my lips. Even though I have used a lip balm as a base, but it is dryer in texture. Overall, I like High Tea more than Hug Me. I would probably repurchase High Tea but not Hug Me, even though both are nice colors. But then there are so many pretty colors in all so many different brands… so by the time I actually used up any one of them I may have moved on to something else. ;) So that’s my 2 cents. :)

lip tar-lip balm

So I have bought a few lip tars earlier last month (?).  They were quite fun.  You literally only need a very tiny dot to cover your lips.  When I started playing with them.  I find them kind of difficult to have a good application... like I can't apply them evenly?  It could be just me.  And I also find my lips a bit dry.  And at the same time I saw it on a blog that she mixed a bit of lip tar with lip balm... that way it will be moisturizing and very portable.  So I put that into a test.

Here is what you need:

• lip balm base (DIY or you can buy them from TKB or Coastal Scent or even scrap some off from your current tube of clear lip balm)
• lip tar
• lip balm tube or jar
• measuring spoon or anything you can use to scrap the l/b base and mix the mixture
• mixing container

Here is what you do:

1. Put l/b base in mixing container and microwave it in short burst until it's melted.
2. Add lip tar
3. Mix
4. Pour into l/b tube or jar
5. Enjoy.

The trick is how much l/t to add to the l/b.  That will be a little experinment for you.  I did it twice, the first time I had enough l/b base for 1 tube and only used a few drops of l/t.  It's so sheer that it's not working.  And today I use the same amount of base and used A LOT of l/t (experinmenting, see?), I guess the ratio is almost 2/3:1 (l/t:l/b).  This time the color is very opaque and pigmented, the way I imagined it would be... but I guess I could use a touch less of l/t...  If I was to do it a third time, I would use less l/t and I will also put a metal spoon or knife in the freezer ahead of time and after mixing the l/t and l/b I would dip the "frozen utensil" to the colored mixture and test it.  It's a very handy trick.  And if I find the color not pigmented enough then I can add more l/t.

Hopefully you will find it a bit useful and fun. 

 

Random

This is my new fav --  MAC High Tea. :)  It’s in the Lustre formula and according to MAC, it’s “Beiged pink with pearl”.  On my lips it is very nice ylbb/nude color, without being too “beige” or too nude, but blended in nicely with my natural lip color.  Because some ylbb/nude color do add a bit more color to one’s natural lip color and some nude color makes your lip not ylbb.  (I think ylbb/nude lip sticks should enhance your natural color and would blend in well with your lip color and sometimes even looks like you are not wearing any lip color.)  But this one just gives my natural lip color just a oh-so-slightly touch of extra something and a little bit of shine without being slick.  It’s not sticky nor slick/wet look.  I can’t smell, so I can’t really say it have a scent.  But I really like it and would repurchase if I used it up.  The next one I am interested to get is Hug Me, same formula and it’s “Flesh Pink” by MAC’s description.  From their website, it looks like a deeper version of High Tea with more pink.

lippies

Just a pic of different lippies I have.  I love them all.  I am actually pleasantly surprise with the one from Rimmel, it was on sale in Ulta and the color is gorgeous.  The texture is not sticky at all, kind of like Silk Naturals and very moisturizing as well.  I love it, definitely a great buy.  The MAC one is definitely "sticky" compared to the others, but it's tolerable.  Maybe next time I will do some swatches with the Stila I had, those are nice too.

Ahhh... and lip tars.  They are actually pretty great and should last a very long time.  Planning to add them to some lip balm base and play a little.  A tiny dot is enough (or even too much) for the entire lips, they stained a little too... but not sticky or anything like that.  I like them.  I love the colors I got.

 

Again, my picture is lacking in quality (eg:  the duo-chrome color with vivid and the pretty shimmers from some of them).  And I don't want to spread the lip gloss too much, as you may not be able to see it... but I am sure if you google it, you will find other swatches from some other capable hands. :)
